Colgate swimming and diving coach Andy Waeger announced the addition of Justin Jennings to his staff as an assistant coach in September.

A veteran with more than 14 years of collegiate coaching experience, Jennings joined the Raiders from Coe College in Iowa, where he served as the head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach and director of Coe Natatorium for the past seven seasons.

“Justin is a veteran coach that brings a lot of experience to Colgate,” said Waeger. “He is a very technical coach and we share the same vision for our program. With his years as a head coach he knows what needs to be done to be successful. I am excited to have him on board".

While at Coe, the Kohawks men’s and women’s programs thrived under Jennings’ guidance as they produced seven Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Individual Champions and more than 40 All-IIAC honorees. In addition, Jennings’ student-athletes combined to establish more than 20 new school records and made 10 NCAA provisional cuts all while qualifying for the CSCAA Scholar All-American Team GPA.

“It is my honor to join the Colgate family,” Jennings said. “I couldn’t be more excited and I want to thank Andy Waeger and the Colgate administration for this opportunity. It did not take long to realize that Colgate is a pretty special place. I know that under coach Waeger’s guidance that we will be able to restore this program to its storied past.”

Prior to his time at Coe, Jennings spent two seasons as the men’s and women’s assistant at DePauw University (Ind.). During his time with the Tigers, Jennings helped coached multiple athletes to 21 school and conference records, 32 NCAA ‘B” cuts and back-to-back SCAC Championships (2006 & 2007) with the men’s program.

Jennings began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Carthage College (Wisc.). In his four years at Carthage, the Red Men and Red Women broke more than 80 school records and earned the school's first national placing and All-American honors in over 25 years. He also served as the head women’s water polo coach qualifying the team to the CWPA National Championship Tournament twice in 2003 and 2004.

In addition to his coaching work, Jennings has also been active on the summer camp circuit. He has spent the past nine summers as a counselor at the University of Texas Longhorn Swim Camp and has also served as a counselor at Indiana’s Swimming Analysis Camp.

Jennings earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science in 2003 from Carthage and received his master’s degree in sports management from Indiana State in 2007. Jennings was also a four-year member of the men’s swimming and diving program at Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He served as team captain of the Titans and is a three-time school record-holder.
